What is the AI Text Prank: Send Your Dad a Fake Home Upgrade?
The AI text prank is the biggest prank format on TikTok right now: you text your dad a photo of his house, yard or pool, "upgraded" with AI into something wildly over the top, and film his replies. Upload a real photo of the place, type the small upgrade he asked for, and this template makes the fake photo for you.
The format grew out of AI photo pranks on parents. In August 2026 a fake rain storm over fresh concrete, texted to a boss, passed 23.6 million views. On 3 October a doghouse that grew into a mansion reached 3.0 million, and then the wave hit: in the last two weeks of October one creator alone posted a "huge pool" prank at 3.6 million views, a "small waterslide" that became a whole water park at 2.9 million and a house buried in Christmas lights at 2.0 million. By the end of the month #textprank and #aiprank each had more than 1.3 billion views.
The template keeps everything that makes the photo believable, the same house, angle, light and phone grain, and changes only the one thing: the upgrade, taken absurdly too far. It runs on Nano Banana 2 and returns a photo in the size of your upload, with no watermark. Keep it harmless: upgrades, not strangers or accidents, and tell them it was a joke. The trend videos on this page are credited to their creators; the poster image is AI-generated.
Upgrade ideas that work
Backyard: "a small waterslide" becomes a water park; "a bigger pool" becomes an Olympic pool with a diving tower. Front of the house: "a few Christmas lights" becomes a house you can see from space. Pet corner: "a new doghouse" becomes a dog mansion. Driveway or garden: "fresh concrete" or "two new fence boards" becomes something ridiculous. The funniest edits are the ones where the request was tiny.
Which photo to use
A normal phone photo in daylight, taken where your dad would recognise it: the house from the street or driveway with the whole roof in view, the backyard from the patio or a window, the pool from the side. Avoid screenshots, filters and very dark photos; the edit keeps your photo's light and grain, so a natural photo gives a natural fake.
Keep the prank harmless
This template only adds upgrades: no strangers in the house, no fire, floods or injuries. In 2025 the "AI homeless man" prank led parents to call the police, and police in the US and UK warned against it. A fake water park gets the laugh without the panic. Tell the person it was AI once you have the reaction.
