The kung fu dog is the summer pet trend that started the whole pet kung fu wave. Your dog sits on the rug in a white headband, someone holds out a strip of toilet paper, and the dog stares it down and chops it in half with one paw, like a karate master. Upload one photo of your dog and this template makes your version. On 29 July 2026 a golden retriever in a white headband chopped a strip of toilet paper in half on TikTok, and the clip passed 2.8 million views. Three days later a second golden retriever, also in a headband, passed 2.7 million, and smaller breeds followed through August. The #kungfudog tag passed 50 million views. In October the same chop jumped to cats and went even bigger (see the kung fu cat template), which sent people back to the dog version too. The template runs in two steps: an image model puts the headband on your own dog and sets up the paper strip, then a video model plays the long stare, the raised paw and two clean chops, with an original drum-and-gong beat. You get an 8-second vertical clip with no watermark. The trend videos on this page are credited to their creators; the poster image is AI-generated. ## The headband matters The white headband is what turns a dog with a paper strip into a karate master. The template always adds it, keeps your dog's own face and fur, and stages the shot at eye level like the original clips. ## Which photo to use One dog, alone in the picture, whole body in view, face clear. A photo of your dog sitting gives the closest match to the trend. ## How to use it 1. Open https://soracai.com/ai-kung-fu-dog and upload a photo (Your dog's photo). 2. Press Generate (140 credits, shown on the button before you run it). 3. Wait one to three minutes; the result is also saved to My Creations. 4. Download the MP4 without a watermark. Failed runs are refunded automatically. ## Examples - Example result: https://soracai.com/media/templates/ai-kung-fu-dog/poster.avif ## This trend on Instagram & TikTok - @rydersgolden (Trend video), TikTok, 2026-07-29: “Gentle kung fu fighting”: the headband golden retriever. 2,795,561 views, 210,189 likes. Use the kung fu cat template for the lap version. ## Use cases - Your dog's own kung fu clip for TikTok, Reels and Shorts. - A pet account post for the pet kung fu wave. - A birthday or gotcha-day video for your dog. ## FAQ ### How do I make the kung fu dog trend with AI? Upload one clear photo of your dog and press Generate. You get an 8-second clip of your dog in a white headband chopping a strip of toilet paper in half. ### Is it free? Video templates use paid credits. New accounts get free credits for photo templates only. The exact cost is shown on the Generate button before you confirm. ### Does the video have the song from the trend? No. The clip has an original kung fu style beat with drums and a gong. Add the trending sound yourself in TikTok or CapCut. ### Can I use it with a cat? You can, but the kung fu cat template fits cats better: it uses the October version where the cat sits on a lap and chops a tissue. ### Is this affiliated with the creators of the trend? No. Soracai is not affiliated with any of the creators of the kung fu dog clips. The template makes its own original scene with your dog's photo. ### Is there a watermark? No watermark is added to the video. ### Where is my photo stored? Uploads are stored in Firebase Storage (Google Cloud) under your account so the run can happen and the result appears in Creations. They are not public, and you can email support to request deletion. To run the effect, a copy is sent to our AI model provider (kie.ai); result files are kept for 14 days, so download what you want to keep. ## Related effects - [AI Kung Fu Cat Trend Video](https://soracai.com/ai-kung-fu-cat): Your cat sits upright on a lap like a martial arts master, blocks, strikes and karate-chops a paper tissue clean in half: the viral kung fu cat from one photo of your own cat. - [Whiny Dog AI Video](https://soracai.com/ai-whiny-dog): Your dog or cat stares into the phone and whines dramatically, again and again, then flashes a big toothy grin. - [Sniffer Dog AI Video](https://soracai.com/ai-sniffer-dog): You dance in a festival crowd until a working dog walks up and sits down at your feet, and you freeze, then fake-cry. - [AI Clapping Cat](https://soracai.com/ai-clapping-cat): Your cat or dog sits up, grows two little human hands, grins and gives a slow, loud clap. - [AI Puppy Generator](https://soracai.com/ai-puppy-generator): Your selfie becomes a cozy photo of you buried in three fluffy Pomeranian puppies. - [AI Pet Halloween Costume](https://soracai.com/ai-pet-halloween-costume): See your dog or cat in any Halloween costume on a decorated porch, before you buy one. - [Day of the Dead Pet AI](https://soracai.com/ai-day-of-the-dead-pet): Your pet runs toward you across a glowing bridge of marigold petals on its first Día de Muertos. - [AI Shadow Boxing Knockout Video](https://soracai.com/ai-shadow-boxing-knockout): You shadowbox in a boxing gym, an invisible jab and hook snap your head back, and you drop flat on the mat while everyone else keeps training: "bro got knocked out shadowboxing" from one photo.
