The AI flying car takeoff is the "wrong button" version of the flying car trend. You only meant to skip a song, but one tap on the dashboard screen sends your car straight up into the sky. Upload a photo of your car and you get a handheld phone clip filmed from the pavement of a busy city street: your car waits at the kerb between glass skyscrapers, the driver taps the screen, four jets of white vapour blast down and the car shoots vertically upward with all four wheels still on. The phone tilts up to follow it, vapour rolls across the street and people stop to stare. Add a photo of yourself and you are the one behind the wheel. Also known as the Tesla Roadster takeoff meme, the "me trying to skip the song" flying car, or the flying Roadster launch. It took off on TikTok on 16 October 2026, the day a flying sports car was unveiled. The clip that defined it passed 7.6 million views and 1.3 million likes, and a Spanish "one hour late for work" version passed 2.5 million. The template runs in two steps: an image model places your own car on the city street, then a video model launches it with sound. The clip is 8 seconds, vertical and watermark-free, and your car keeps its own shape and colour. The trend videos on this page are credited to their creators; the poster image is AI-generated. ## How the takeoff is filmed Like the viral clips, it looks like something a passer-by caught on a phone: a normal city street, a normal tap on the screen, then the impossible. The camera follows the car up between the towers, which is what sells the scale. There are no rockets or flames, only vapour jets and a whoosh, so it reads as a funny glitch rather than an explosion. ## Takeoff, traffic or parking? The flying car trend has split into several jokes. This one is the straight-up launch. If you want your car to hop over a stopped traffic jam, use Flying Car Over Traffic; for the last-space-in-the-car-park joke, use Flying Car Parking; and for a crowded sky, use Sky Traffic Jam. ## How to use it 1. Open https://soracai.com/ai-flying-car-takeoff and upload the photos (Your car, You (optional)). 2. Press Generate (140 credits, shown on the button before you run it). 3. Wait one to three minutes; the result is also saved to My Creations. 4. Download the MP4 without a watermark. Failed runs are refunded automatically. ## Examples - Example result: https://soracai.com/media/templates/ai-flying-car-takeoff/poster.avif ## This trend on Instagram & TikTok - @unwavvy (Trend video), TikTok, 2026-10-16: “Me after trying to skip the song”. 7,647,269 views, 1,376,708 likes. Upload a photo of your car (and, if you like, one of yourself) and press Generate. The template puts your car on a city street and launches it straight up. ### Is it free? Video templates use paid credits. New accounts get free credits for photo templates only. The exact cost is shown on the Generate button before you confirm. ### Is this the Tesla Roadster takeoff meme? It is the same joke people post under the Tesla Roadster and flying car hashtags, but it uses your own car. Any car, SUV or van works. ### Is this made by or affiliated with Tesla? No. Soracai is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by Tesla. "Tesla Roadster" is named only because that is what people search for this trend. The template animates your own car and adds no logos or badges. ### Will it show my number plate? No. The plate is blurred and badges are left out. ### Is there a watermark? No watermark is added to the video. ### Where is my photo stored? Uploads are stored in Firebase Storage (Google Cloud) under your account so the run can happen and the result appears in Creations. They are not public, and you can email support to request deletion. To run the effect, a copy is sent to our AI model provider (kie.ai); result files are kept for 14 days, so download what you want to keep. ## Related effects - [AI Flying Car Video](https://soracai.com/ai-flying-car): Stuck in traffic, your car lets out a puff of vapour, lifts over the queue and lands in the empty lane ahead. - [AI Flying Car Parking Video](https://soracai.com/ai-flying-car-parking): The car park is full, so your car flies over the queue and drops straight down into the last empty space. - [Sky Traffic Jam AI Video](https://soracai.com/ai-sky-traffic-jam): Traffic in 2030: every car on the highway is flying, stacked in layers above the road, and yours lifts off to join the jam. - [AI Flying Car Fail Video](https://soracai.com/ai-flying-car-fail): Your car hops up to skip the traffic, overshoots, and ends up sitting on top of the motorway sign.
